Better Off Dead

I remember this Hendrix song called "Little Wing," it was about a person who wanted life to better than it is and going mad in the process. It takes strength to hold on to your dreams in a deep and fulfilling way, because of the fact that life has to be made to be better than it is, it is not automatic. Fulfillment and happiness are never automatic, they are created by yourself and self accepted, in that order. Now sure, I can give external oriented advice on this fact, like most writers do. But what good would that do? That would do no good. What is very good is initiative, personal initiative and the productive, honest and good use of personal power and honest life. For life to be better than it is in reality, it takes consistent attention and effort, and a genuinely correct use of resources.

Sure, it is simple in concept, but hard to do in practice. For example, it is easy to go for what looks good. But is it easy to go for what is good always? No. It is like my example in earlier articles about the supermarket bought horribly burnt cake with nice looking frosting versus the healthy homemade upside down pineapple cake with no frosting but is good for you and tastes better and has real pineapple under the "ugly" cake. So, as I said, is it always easy to go for what is good for you or what immediately looks "good" and "feels good" no matter what the extended range benefit of what is good. Honesty is good, dishonesty can just "look good," but it never is. In my memory, that is the reality of the situation. This is the ultimate lesson of life and love, what is good is good and what is bad is bad and no "looks" can change that in any way. So, life better than it is and accepted normality is foolishness, because we all must think logically and honestly for ourselves to benefit ourselves.

So, it is what it is, but, perception does not make it so, reality does make it so. That is my point. Sure, I can sit up here and write a foolish article about complex sounding "good" concepts that do nothing for you, or I can write about genuinely beneficial concepts that do something for you and your value in life and my own. I prefer the latter which are the general beneficial themes of my articles. Consider this article my impromptu mission statement. The reality that life is what we make it, and not necessarily and "automatically" what we want in any way. Take a good "guess" what I mean by that statement. Life really is what we make it in a rational way and not what we want in an irrational way. If it was not, boring perfection instead of active growth would be the working law for everyone. We know that this is not so. So, I end with a quote from Alexander Graham Bell, paraphrased for objective and political correctness, "we are all what we make ourselves through our actions."
