Mad Mad Mad

"How do I jump higher?" I always wanted to know the answer to this question. I couldn't jump to save my life. I was a junior in high school, and I could hardly get halfway up the net.

Something was seriously wrong.

One day I went outside and decided to try to touch the rim.

I didn't even come close.

It was at this point that I decided enough was enough. I stormed inside, got online, and bought the first vertical jump program I found. It turned out to be Air Alert 2.

I had heard from a number of people that the program worked, but I had always been too lazy to try it. Finally, I decided to get off my butt and do something about my pathetic jumping ability.

You see, this was a make or break year for me. All the seniors had just graduated, leaving the 5 starting spots open from the year before. There were a bunch of us sophomores and juniors competing for those spots.

I needed a way to stand out.

I dedicated myself to that program like never before. Every night, I was in the basement doing the exercises religiously. I was excited, but I wasn't sure what to expect.

After the first two weeks, I had gained 3 inches!

In fact, it was that week that I first touched the rim. I still remember it like it was yesterday. We practiced early in the morning-I'm talking 6 am. I was still a little sleepy, so I was trying to get loose. I decided to test out my new found hops.

My first try, I didn't even come close. I re-grouped, gave myself the world's fastest motivational talk, and tried again. This time, I got my hand on the very bottom of the rim!

I'll never forget that feeling.

I practically sky walked through the rest of practice. That gave me all the motivation I needed to continue the program.

By the end of the 12 weeks, I had gained a ridiculous 15 inches!

Unbelievably, I still couldn't dunk a basketball. Yes, my previous hops were that sad. However, I was incredibly close... which was really saying something for a kid that four weeks earlier was touching halfway up the net.

Finally, the day came.

It was a late afternoon the summer after I graduated. I was outside shooting hoops, and decided to try one more time to dunk before going inside.

I did it.

I grinned for the rest of the night. It wasn't exactly a Vince Carter reverse 360 windmill, but it was a bona-fide dunk.

Why do I tell you this?

If you're like me, chances are you are looking for an answer to your sorry hops. You want to jump and dunk so bad, but you weren't born with natural athleticism. You've been brainwashed into thinking your current jumping ability is all you're ever going to have.

Hopefully my story has helped you realize jumping significantly higher is possible. I'm not going to lie to you-it will take effort. However, if you are willing to COMMIT yourself, it is very possible to increase your vertical leap by 15-20 inches and possibly more. The time to start is now.
