As a firefighter and a former child seat safety inspector at the forefront of my mind when purchasing this product. In our room controller class taught us that, like other loose parts of the vehicle, which may mirror a dangerous projectile in an accident. But the mother did not feel that they can not see the child and the child was already on board, looking at the seat. I bought a few mirrors and their safety evaluation and the ability to keep the child occupied. Here are my results on the Baby Einstein Lights & Melodies Mirror.

The first child is a mirror held to have fun and easier management.
2nd Regarding the safety belt, the mirror on the headrest looks fragile and I do not think that it is up to the forces involved in road accidents. Mirrors, I'm comfortable with the security SafeFit Jumbo View Auto Mirror.
As the third mirror is completely useless. I have not seen the child in the mirror, and it appeared that the child can see himself.

Overall, I would not recommend this mirror. We now use products SafeFit in both vehicles. Although not as fun as Baby Einstein products, certainly appear to be safer. If you can find it, check SafeFit Auto Mirror & Mobile or SafeFit Kick & Go. SafeFit also seems to produce mirrors Fisher Price.

Did not work for my Car

I bought this for my son for my car. It will not attach to my seat. The straps are pointless. I tried to pin it in but it keeps falling. I have headrest on my seats. I really liked how the music played. But the batteries died quickly. I am going to buy a simple $10 big mirror. Too bad because it is cute.

Entertaining for my easily bored child

I think the reviewer that gave this item 1star probably didn't disable the "try me" mode appropriately. You have to remove this tab from the batteries to get it to work longer than 10 seconds. Also, I don't think any baby could turn anything on or off. I'm not sure how old her kid is, but mine is 4 months and I turn everything on for him! I like it cause it can run for up to 60 minutes. My son hates the car, so this helps entertain him while we go out. It also has lights and music! I first got the one with the remote, but that one lasts a few seconds and you have to keep pressing the remote. It is a little expensive, but when you are desperate to keep your baby from crying constantly in the car, then it is well worth it! It's not perfect, but it helps! I wish it had a remote to keep it going!

Love the mirror, hate the installation

Like most other reviewers, I found installation of the mirror to be extremely difficult to install. I have a smaller car with no headrests and baby is rear-facing. The battery compartment makes the mirror face upwards, instead of downwards so that baby can see himself and I can see him in my mirror. Its totally useless as a mirror. I do love the lights and music. It has 3 or 4 different settings, one for just music, one for music and lights, one for music lights and learning colors in spanish, french, and english. I love everything about this mirror except the installation. It is a shame it is not usable as a mirror. I still use it to entertain my son who loves the lights and music though.

Highly recommend to "entertain" baby

Love the lights and music it keeps baby entertained. The timer works well; I did not buy this for my 3 month old to play with so no problem there. Like the english/spanish/french feature to it. I usually keep it at 20 minute timer for local traveling; but very easily removable and bring inside and attach it to his crib as well.
Only thing i don't like is that i can't see his face and tried adjusting several times; but it could also be that we have the larger baby carrier for up to 32pds. I bought mine at Target; seemed to be the best one because of the lights and music.

Great mirror BUT terribly FRUSTRATING!!!

Originally purchased a Fisher-Price auto mirror:Fisher-Price Rainforest Baby View Auto Mirror which installed in our sedans middle seat w/out a head rest VERY easily, but then saw this one & loved the large size of the mirror & also the lights and music.
We did think that the lights were going to have the ability to be activated by the baby- by kick, since the lights are located at the bottom and still wish the company would do this.

This product is SOO poorly executed by the company: it was completely frustrating to install!
According to the package instructions the mirror is 'supposed' to be able to install on a head rest, crib or w/out a head rest which is what we attempted.
We followed the instructions & resulted in a mirror that the baby could not see into and that we couldn't see the baby in!
1. There's no included way to angle the mirror for baby to view or for us to view baby.
Not a problem with the much less expensive Fisher-Price mirror.
2. The placement of the battery compartment is at the bottom where the catepillar lights are- It makes the bottom of the mirror stick out- preventing the mirror from lying flat & further keeping the mirror from achieving an angle the baby can use. When my mom saw the mirror she thought it was upside down- which would have actually worked better!
3. Although it IS cute and entertaining for baby it isn't worth the price or the absolute FRUSTRATION.

If you do decide to get it: what worked for our installation was placing a rolled towel underneath the straps which anchor to the back seat. This allows the mirror to sort of lay on the towel- stick out a bit and angle down for baby and us. It isn't perfect because the battery compartment is still in the way.
At night we adjust the towel a bit so the baby has a better view of the lights- when baby can't see in the mirror anyhow...
