Who Killed Kennedy

The law restricting presidential term limits was good for the Republican Party and probably good for the country. President Roosevelt served three terms and part of a fourth term before he died during World War II. (Roosevelt was too ill during part of his last term to govern the everyday activities of the war. Fortunately General George Marshall was there to handle those chores.) When the president died, President Truman took the reins of government continuing Democratic control.

I can see the Republican's dilemma. When would they get their turn?

My father, a democrat, became independent over time. Part of the catalyst was the Kennedy Family that came into Utah with their money and what my dad thought were improper and manipulative tactics. Joseph Kennedy had decided to use his wealth and power to create a family presidential dynastic.

I have decided to call such a dynasty a FPD (not to be confused with Adobe® PDF files or any other files for that matter).

Joseph Kennedy, Jr., the oldest of Joseph and Rose Kennedy's children, was to become the first Kennedy president in the Kennedy FPD. The World War II hero was killed when the drone aircraft he was flying exploded before his scheduled bailout. Some say it was actually bombed by our own planes flying above it on their return from raids in Europe as they dropped their surplus bombs before landing.

The drone was heavily laden with explosive and was to be guided to a V-2 rocket site. The V-2 was killing many British people and destroying their property. What would it have been like if the Kennedy Family took over our government for four 8-year segments? Joe, John, Robert, and then Teddy?

We would have a royal family, something that our forefathers frowned upon.

Now we have the threat of two other families controlling our government, the Bush family and the Clinton Family, the first being more of a threat than the second..

If the elder President Bush had won his second term, we would have had 16 years of Bush government. We still have the threat of Jeb Bush. Despite some questionable past activities of the Bush family, Jeb is well liked, seems to be somewhat smarter than his brother, and has a strong political base. Hillary Clinton would extend the Clinton Presidency.

Despite Bill Clinton's personal shenanigans, he left the country with a surplus and there was no major war raging during his campaign. Hillary is well-liked and a tough campaigner. Even though she foolishly supported the second war in Iraq, she carries little baggage that could get her defeated. (But you know what happened to John Kerry so how would anyone be sure on that point. Politics is right below rape and murder on the ethics scale. It reminds me of what happened to Goldwater.)

We Americans should think twice before we vote repeatedly for candidates from the same family.

A corollary to this is we should think twice before we vote continually for candidates from wealthy families. We need a few more Harry Truman types.

John Edwards will like that last statement. Did you know his father was a mill worker?
