John Adams was independent as a thinker and politically too. He had tremendous political courage and character, knowing that sometimes you had to do the unpopular thing. He was a principles person, being the only one of the founding founders who never owned a slave as a matter of principle.
A man of phenomenal honesty, his honesty was in someways his weakness in the world of politics he did not know quite how to be as tactful as he should have been. However when his emotions and ideas where in tune, he was able to verbalize the reasons for America to break off from Great Britain. He is the man who argued for independence, he fought the battle on the floor of the continental congress resulting in the vote that United States would become a free and independent nation.
Overall he had this vision of what had to be achieved and whatever he had to go through to achieve it he was going to do it to achieve it. He was the right man for the times.
John Adams and George Washington where gravely concerned that factions, as they called them would destroy the country. More so, that people in political life would start to worry more about the fortunes of their party than the fortunes of the country.
When you watch the series that was initially shown on HBO you will have a newer understanding of all the revolutionary founding fathers and see them in a new light. So much can be done on the screen on television that will move people and they will feel the story. I do not believe that any film done on this subject of history has been done with so much authenticity.
