-------- More Movies at the Bottom -----------
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Showing the top 20 seemed to be tough enough, but to try to gather together a complete listing of the top 100 horror movies could be, well, frightening. There is the issue of genre splitting, that is what goes on when you can't determine if "The Hills Have Eyes" is really a scary movie (it is) or a Slasher flick ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"). Then there's an added problem of objectivity, which of course, goes down the drain from the get-go. So here are 20 of the top 100 horror movies for all time, and you ought to be pleased about these screen gems.
1. The Exorcist. Not any motion picture has ever come near to the incredible natural capacity to completely get cold your skin that this movie had. I still get nightmares even today and certainly number 1 in my Top 100 Horror Movies for all time list.
2. Jaws. Though occasionally mistaken for a suspense or thriller movie, this is undoubtedly a beast feature horror movie then one of the most traumatizing films ever made. Everyone away from the water!
3. Carrie. Brian de Palma's work of art based on the Stephen King best seller.
4. The Evil Dead. Coen brothers initial production. One by one, these university children finally end up crawling to the walls. Scary.
5. The Blair Witch Project. I could truthfully obtain a large amount of flak for this one, but I for starters will still not wander near the woods in the evening. Not a chance.
6. Cloverfield. Giant space monster damages New York, decapitating the Statue of Liberty on the way.
7. Nosferatu. Hushed old classic in ghoulish grayscale.
8. Night of the Living Dead. Naturally I mean the 1968 B & W edition. Super terrifying! Our virgin motion picture venture into the land of zombie mobs.
9. Carnival of Souls. Would make absolutely no feeling at all, however you will not likely soon forget about this haunting black and white horror noir classic.
10. Pan's Labyrinth. Del Toro's unique work of art continues to be steadily within the Top 100 Horror movies available.
11. Rosemary's Baby. I remember the time when this movie initially arrived on the scene but it was the sort of motion picture that modified the way you considered life as well as the supernatural.
12. It's Alive. Undead zombie baby in a dark subway tunnel. What could possibly be greater?
13. From Beyond. Readily the cheesiest and best B movie ever made.
14. Alien. This sci-fi horror fest tested the limits of audience paranoia.
15. The Blob. I like the last one best, but they are great.
16. Young Frankenstein. Not just a horror movie, but too great to hold off the list.
17. Paranormal Activity. Fantastically terrifying. Initially it bores you to death, next bangs you awake. Like acquiring hit with lightning while dead asleep.
18. The Ring. That creepy girl having a very long hair should have stuck down the well.
19. The Hills Have Eyes. Not really members of the Hair Club for guys.
20. The Birds. Hitchcock at his ridiculous, scary, feathery best.
That's it. 20 of the top 100 horror movies for all time. Snacks, anyone?
